WESTCHESTER DETOXIFICATION CENTER PROVIDES EFFECTIVE

NEW TREATMENT PROGRAM FOR OPIATE ADDICTS

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved the use of buprenorphine, also known as Suboxone and Subutex, for the office-based treatment of narcotic addiction or dependence. These medications treat opiate addiction by preventing symptoms of withdrawal from heroin and other opiates such as OxyContin and Vicodin.

There are more than one million opiate addicts in the United States, according to the National Institute for Drug Abuse, and this number is growing. Unfortunately, due to previous restrictive controls on substances such as methadone, there have not been enough addiction treatment centers to accommodate all patients desiring therapy. This change is expected to provide patients greater access to needed treatment.

People addicted to heroin and prescription painkillers can now access effective and affordable medical treatment in the privacy, convenience, and familiarity of a doctor's office, says Dr. Marc E. Koch, Co-Medical Director of Addiction Recovery Institute (ARI) in New Rochelle, New York. Our patients come in to our beautiful state-of-the-art office, where they undergo a thorough history and physical from a certified addiction medicine physician, receive appropriate doses of medication, and are referred to a therapist or 12-step program for follow-up counseling. They get clean for once and for all and then get back to their busy lives.

Addiction Recovery Institute (ARI), with offices located in New Rochelle (Westchester County) and in Manhattan, is one of the few programs currently qualified to offer office-based detoxification treatment in the New York City metro area. ARI provides a range of discreet and personalized detoxification programs from all substances of abuse.
